Get In The Trenches | Andrew Metz | YG Stage with Andy Weins
When Andrew Metz found out a key leader in his department was leaving, he didn’t want to deliver the news to his team over the phone. He wanted to reassure his team that things would be okay. So he booked a flight to tell them in person.
Taking the reigns and moving forward with initiative, courage, and confidence is necessary in a leadership role, especially one that is driven by sales. There’s no reason to hesitate when the rubber hits the road.
Andrew shares this and more wisdom gleaned from his career at Zywave, where he has worked from cold-caller to Regional Vice President, now overseeing a team of 30-some colleagues, some of whom were on the same team as him more than 10 years ago when he started his tenure.

The Building Blocks | Advantage Design + Remodel | YG Workshop with David Belman
Growing up, going to school, and starting a business together has been working great for Andy Schafer and Greg Wade, owners of Advantage Design + Remodel. So well that they’re even neighbors.
The owners of Advantage Design + Remodel join YG Workshop today to draw out some plans for a bit of remodeling of their own – on the ebb and flow of their business and its operations.
Their growth has been spectacular, and they’re headed for success in the long term. But first, they’ll need to get themselves out of the whirlwind of sales and operations, and create processes to handle the other 50 things on an entrepreneur’s plate.
YG Workshop is hosted by David Belman, presented by First Federal Bank, and sponsored by Circle Electric and Health Payment Systems.

Start Ups & Venture Capital | YG Roundtable with Pat Miller | Built by Max Weiss
Milwaukee has always been the little brother to a number of Midwestern metros like Chicago and the Twin Cities, and few would argue that the start-up scene in Silicon Valley considers MKE a threat.
Dana Guthrie of Alchemy Angel Investors and Matt Cordio of Start Up Milwaukee have a few things to say about that.
The city and the surrounding areas are booming and the opportunities here are rich for growth and investment. Capital isn’t quite abundant yet, but both seem to think: we’re not far from it, and we’ve earned our place at the table.

Continuous Improvement | Christine Specht | CEO Cousins Subs | YG One on One with Paul M. Neuberger
For Christine Specht, it wasn’t written in stone that she’d eventually take the helm of the family business – but she’s happy to be there.
It all started when she was young and working as a cashier at Cousins Subs, the company started by her father and his cousin, who missed the sub shops and bread from their New Jersey youth. Christine fell in love with the mission and grew within the company until today, where she is the CEO.
Alongside leading redesigns of shops, franchisors, or expansion plans in the Midwest, Christine even gets to be involved in creating the menu – whose staples, besides sandwiches, include cheese curds and french fries.

Four Traits of Successful Leaders | Roger Wolkoff | YG Stage with Andy Weins
It’s not about what you say, it’s about how you say it. And sometimes, it’s about not saying anything at all. Sometimes, you just need to listen.
Roger Wolkoff of All About Authenticity teaches us four traits of successful leaders and runs through a few scenarios that we all bobble in. How are we sounding or coming off when we speak out of turn? How are we shaping the conversation when we take control of it?
We’re all guilty of imperfection and we have the opportunity to grow as business leaders, luminaries, and entrepreneurs when we work towards the characteristics that Roger walks us through.
